1972 Rolex Explorer II 1655 MK 1 Straight Hand

Case: The early case with its almost pointed crown guards is thick and appears to have been polished in the past. The MK2 bezel is also in excellent condition and shows light wear for its age.

Dial: The matte black MK 1 dial is excellent and shows light wear for its age. The lume has aged to a light sandy tone and the hands have aged slightly warmer than the dial. The 24-hour hand shows some scuffing from where it appears to have been making contact with the underside of the hour hand. This issue has been remedied, the hands have been aligned properly and no longer make contact. The minute hand has a small touch up just near the base of the hand.

Bracelet: The 13 folded link Oyster bracelet is excellent and shows average stretch for its age. The clasp is stamped with a matching 1972 date code.

Notes: By far the most avant-garde in design of all the vintage Rolex watches. The 1655 may not have the easiest dial to read, but the radical design makes it one of the most fun watches to wear.
