Case: The previously polished case is very good and shows light wear from use. The stainless UPH bezel is also excellent and shows only very light wear.
Dial: The silver dial is excellent showing overall very light wear with a few very minor and subtle spots showing. The black subdials are exceptionally clean with the exception of a small chip on the 30 index of the minute chrono dial. There is some small natural aging at the 41 and 42 min markers. The lume has aged to a clean creamy hue and only the 8 o'clock marker is missing part of its luminous mass. The hands match the dial perfectly and all lume glows brightly when exposed to UV and falls off rapidly at the same rate.
Bracelet: The 12 link oyster bracelet is excellent and shows very light stretch for its age. The clasp is stamped with a 1967 date code.
Accessories: Excellent 12 link Swiss rivet bracelet with very light stretch. The clasp is stamped with a 1967 date code.
Notes: In 1989 The Sauber-Mercedes C9 ditched its black and white livery and switched back to the simple and classic Mercedes silver. Dubbed the Silver Arrow the C9 went on to win all but one race in that 1989 season and its top speed of 400Km/h during the 24 Hours of Le Mans race led to the creation of the two chicanes still in place today on the Mulsanne straight.
Incredibly clean and uncluttered wearing only silver and black this first Daytona began Rolex's long connection to the world of motorsports.
