Case: The thick case is excellent and appears to be unpolished showing average wear from use. The fat font "kissing 40" bezel is also in excellent condition and has faded to a silvery lavender/blue hue.
Dial: The matte black meters first dial is excellent showing little if any wear for its age. The lume has aged to a warm vibrant creamy hue and the hands match perfectly.
Bracelet: The 11 link Swiss rivet bracelet is excellent showing light stretch for its age. The prototype flip-lock clasp is also in excellent condition showing some light wear. The clasp is stamped with a 1969 date code.
Accessories: Rolex Service Box, Pamphlet & Letter.
Notes: This special prototype band watch was given to the original owner from Rolex for his work on the search for the remains of Le Machault in 1970.
