1964 Rolex Explorer 1016 Gilt Dial with Box

Case: The previously polished case is in excellent condition showing only very light wear from use. The smooth stainless bezel is also in excellent condition showing only very light wear.

Dial: The deep glossy black gilt dial is excellent showing only very light wear for its age. The dial is still mostly black but with deep brown undertones which is usually indicative of the tropical patina becoming more pronounced in the future. The lume has aged to a warm creamy hue and the hands match perfectly. All lume glows brightly when exposed to UV and falls off rapidly at the same rate.

Bracelet: The 15 folded link Oyster bracelet is excellent showing only light stretch for its age. The clasp is stamped with a 1972 date code.

Accessories: Box.

Notes: With a remarkably clean dial for an almost 60 year old watch, this gilt 1016 is showing all the telltale signs that it has already begun its transition into the tropical latitudes.
