Case: The recently polished Pointed crown guard case is excellent showing sharp prominent bevels and only very light wear from use. The bezel insert has faded to a light silver grey and shows only very light wear from use.
Dial: The 4 Line (1 gilt line and 3 silver lines) gilt chapter ring dial has aged with a fractalized spider-cracking patina with only very small patches of the original black lacquer still visible. The lume has aged to a warm creamy hue and the hands are slightly newer tritium units. The lume on the dial glows brightly when exposed to UV and falls off rapidly at the same rate. The hands do not react to UV.
Bracelet: The 12 link USA rivet bracelet is excellent showing only very light stretch for its age. The clasp is stamped with a 1966 date code.
Accessories: None.

Just over a decade ago this watch was featured on Hodinkee. And for many in the space, it's the watch that signaled the then rising tide of tropical watch collecting. With its insane fractalized/spidered/ leopard-spotted dial, thick sharp case, and extremely tight rivet bracelet it still holds up as "The Craziest Tropical Dial Rolex Submariner You Will Ever See, for Sale."
